MC Kontrapunkt c and h
These two cartridges round out the
Kontrapunkt line with the final two
letters of Bachs
surname.
Both incorporate Ortofons newly developed FSE (Field Stabilizing Element) to achieve optimal frequency response linearity by stabilizing the magnetic field especially during complex crescendo passages and to ensure consistently fine channel separation across the frequency band.
An output of 470 µV ensures an extremely high signal-to-noise ratio with any MC input.
Kontrapunkt c
The conical aluminium cantilever is fitted with a Nude FG 80 diamond stylus. Our listening panel concludes: Kontrapunkt c is a true high end reference cartridge, conveying music with supreme precision, impact and dynamics. Its stereo imaging capabilities illuminate the furthest corners of the soundstage in all three dimensions.
A high-resolution audio system is required to fully realize the information retrieval potential of this cartridge.

MC Rohmann
Named after Ortofons former managing director, in honour of many years of service, this cartridge is milled from a solid block of aluminium. The dark blue anodised body exploits aluminiums special damping characteristics to suppress resonance.
The slim-line Nude Orto-Line diamond ensures flawless tracking of even the most dynamic passages. MC Rohmann conveys the full range of detail and subtle nuance, even when a powerful brass section competes with the fine nuances of quieter instruments such as the flute or harpsichord.
A high performance MC transformer or MC preamplifier is recommended.

SPU Royal N
This is the latest top model in the legendary SPU range extending back to 1958 when Ortofon established the Moving Coil as the dominant technology for high-performance LP playback.
Unlike previous models, Royal N has no outer body. Instead, it is supplied with an adaptor for use in a headshell with standard 1/2 mounting.
The mounting base is dark blue with a gold-plated cover. Total weight is 12.8 g including screws. An Ortofon Replicant 100 diamond is mounted on a gold-plated aluminium cantilever. Output is 200 µV.
Royal N requires relatively high tracking force in return for its optimal tracking ability, with fine high-frequency detail and powerful dynamics, but somewhat reduced bass weight.
Royal N is recommended for use with either a high-quality MC transformer or an MC preamplifier with a recommended load of 100 Ohms or greater.

"I bought a DL 110 recently on the recommendation (thanks Robert!). I have been very satisfied with this cartridge - and I think it is a perfect choice for someone - like me - who buys a lot of 2nd hand vinyl - this cart is A LOT more quiet than my previous cartridge (which was a Tekni-Fi K1 - not very well known outside Denmark, I guess, but AFAIK somehow related to the Nottingham Analogue Tracer).
BTW my TT is a Pro-Ject RPM 4 which I believe to be pretty similar to a Rega P3 - rest of the system is Nait 2>Linn Keilidh."

"Just recently changed to a Denon DL160 on my Manticore/RB250, after years using budget AT cartridges (AT95 and AT110). It cost a fiver more than the DL110.
First thing I noticed was the drop in distortion, especially towards the end of an LP side. Makes a good fist of less-than-perfect vinyl too - it tracks like a bastard.
I bought on recommendation, and only regret is not buying one years ago. Go for it."

The MMC 20 Series cartridges are no longer available anywhere.
This cartridge is from old new stock. It comes in
original package and has been properly stocked in a warehouse. |
In 1958, Bang & Olufsen introduced the first stereo pickup cartridge ever made in Europe. This was called the SP1. Since then, many design innovations and the creative use of new materials have kept B&O's cartridges at the forefront of audio technology. By 1979 - 80, Bang & Olufsen's cartridges were represented by the MMC 20 series. MMC stands for 'Moving Micro-Cross'; the patented moving-iron principle upon which all B&O cartridges were based. This unique system employed a cross-shaped armature which, among other advantages, guaranteed exceptional stereo separation since each channel moves on a separate
axis.
If you take music seriously the value of your record collection is likely to be high. Many of your records are likely to be irreplaceable. You will also know that the signals pressed into your vinyl discs are very fragile indeed. The pickup cartridge can be the disc's worse enemy since an ill-suited cartridge can mark a record for life in a single play.
While B&O is aware that cartridge specifications are inter-related, their research shows consistently that Effective Tip Mass (ETM) is one of the major factors affecting record wear. ETM is the
equivalent of the amount of inertia the groove 'sees' in moving or accelerating the stylus tip. Consequently, the higher the ETM value, the higher the force required for a given constant acceleration. Obviously, more force results in more wear.
Three elements contribute to ETM. The stylus tip (diamond) contributes with its entire weight and mass. The armature contributes between 5 - 20% of its weight and mass; the cantilever around 30%. B&O has been able to reduce ETM substantially by refining these elements and building them into an integrated unit. The result is a system which not only reduces damage to the groove walls dramatically, but also provides exceptional performance at all frequencies. |

Naim Audio Unipivot
Arm (ARO)
The low-mass, Naim uni-pivot tone-arm is designed to offer the very
best phono cartridges delicate yet precise support at all audio frequencies.
Its geometry and construction ensure that difficulties with warped records,
end of side distortion and temperature or humidity problems are greatly reduced.
It incorporates a fixed headshell and an extremely stiff, light arm-tube.
The low slung counterweight, used to adjust tracking force, places the
mass in exactly the right position for both stability and minimum inertia and
will remain set even when the arm-tube is lifted clear of the turntable.
Arm-tops can be purchased separately to facilitate easy and fast cartridge
changes without the need for realignment and recalibration.
Also available is a retrofittable lift/lower device called the Aromatic.
Specifications
Effective length 230mm
Overhang
18mm
Cartridge weight 5.5 to 12gm
Pivot centre to platter centre 212.5mm
